Last week YouTube announced its next big thing: YouTube for Artists. Its billed as a resource for independent music artists trying to breakthrough the online clutter via video. According to YouTube, the site will provide detailed tips on how to get discovered, engage fans, generate revenue, and direct musicians to free production resources all over the world.
Upcoming artists will want to pay particular attention to one site feature: Find Your Fans. The company bills this as a “music insight” tool that crunches data to help you find out what cities your YouTube fans are located in and how often they share your videos. They say this tool will give you the information you need to schedule tour dates etc. at the right place and time. Watch the promo video here.
